At Washington Veterinary Medical Clinic, we get a ton of interesting questions from pet parents. Below are some FAQs that might help answer any questions or concerns. Please feel free to call us at (309) 745-9331 for any other concerns you might have about your pet.

What can I expect during my first visit to the veterinary hospital?

As a new client at our Veterinary Hospital in Washington, you can expect our dedicated attention to your pet’s needs. Before your first visit with us, we encourage you to complete our online New Client form to expedite our onboarding process for you and your pet(s).

Upon your arrival for the appointment, you will receive a warm welcome, and we will guide you to an examination room after checking in your pet.

Typically, one of our veterinary technicians will begin by gathering information about your pet’s medical history, current condition, and the reason for your visit to provide data for the doctor.

Next, one of our veterinarians will examine your pet, ask additional questions, and may recommend diagnostic tests if necessary. Most of these tests can be performed in our practice. After the tests, your veterinarian will discuss any potential diagnoses and treatment options if applicable.

This is an excellent opportunity to ask any questions you may have. Our veterinary team is here to ensure you feel completely at ease with the information we provide.

A veterinary technician will likely return to conclude the visit and offer helpful pet care information while addressing any wellness and care questions you might have. Our front desk staff will handle your payment and schedule any follow-up appointments as needed. We provide the option to check out in the room for convenience, as well.

What types of pets do you treat?

We care for a variety of pets, including dogs, cats, small mammals like rabbits, guinea pigs, and ferrets, and some exotic pets such as reptiles and birds.

How do you ensure the appointment runs smoothly?
We strive to give each client and their pet the attention they need. We use fear free tactics to help soothe pets and owners during the appointment. While we aim to keep appointments on schedule, unexpected emergencies may occasionally cause delays. We will keep you informed if this occurs.
Is it important to prepare anything before my visit?

It is helpful to bring any medical records or documentation regarding your pet’s history, as well as a list of any medications your pet is currently taking. Feel free to email us ahead of your appointment if you have any questions regarding what you should bring.

What payment options do you accept?
We offer several convenient payment options, including CareCredit, cash, check, Discover, Mastercard, and Visa.
Do you offer any special plans for pet care?

Yes, we provide preventative healthcare plans tailored for your pets. Feel free to ask our friendly staff for more details. Please not that these plans are avilable for existing clients only.
